Taste The Good

When I was a kid, I would avoid tasting new things that did not look nice. I thought I knew better.

I remember one time when I saw a drink in the shops that was bright blue and bubble gum flavored.

I begged my parents to let me try it, but they said no. They told me I would not like it. But I could not let this idea go, and I kept nagging them over and over. All I could think about was this drink.

Finally, they gave in and bought it for me. I opened it, all excited, and took my first sip… It tasted awful! I regretted my decision immediately.

But, I would not admit to them that it was bad, and I kept drinking it. But let’s just say I never tried that drink again.

I discovered that often what looks great is not the best for me. Yet, I had this idea in my head that it would be good for me.

In the spiritual life, there are some things you think will be great, but they are not. But there are many things that taste great and that will satisfy you.

The scripture says,

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD [Yahweh] [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusts in him. [GBMV]

The Lord wants to help you find the good things. But you likely have had experiences where you were burned. Times when you got excited and thought that you were going to be blessed, only to have that bad taste in your mouth.

I want to remind you today that God does not give bad gifts. God does not leave a bad taste in your mouth. What God gives you will taste good and refreshing.

Perhaps you are afraid to try something new in your life because of past experiences. Don’t be afraid, God has you in His hands.

Let Him show you that your life is meant to be a blessed life. When you put your trust in Him, you will taste what is good.
