When I was just starting high school, a lot of our subjects changed from when I was in junior school. One of the things that was new to me at that time was doing arts and crafts, like painting and drawing.
Most of the students did painting or drawing during the lessons. But we each also had a turn to go one by one and do some pottery. The teacher showed us how to do it on the spinning wheel. Then when our turn came, we could go up and make something out of the clay.
I tried to make a sugar bowl. I gave it a valiant effort, but no matter how hard I tried, my bowl looked rather like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was fatter on one side and leaned a little sideways.
I came across this Scripture recently about this topic. It is from Isaiah 64:8. It says,
But now, O LORD [Yahweh], you [are] our father; we [are] the clay, and you our potter; and we all [are] the work of your hand. [GBMV]
I tried hard to make what I formed out of clay look good, and I pretty much failed. But the Lord is the one who will make you into a beautiful vessel for Him. The Lord can never fail. So you don’t have to be concerned about being a failure in your life. He will make you into something amazing for Him.
You may not see yourself like that best creation. In yourself you may see yourself as a failure and a loser. But the Lord sees you as the best that there is. He has molded you to be His vessel of glory. And He will use you mightily for Him. You just need to allow Him to lead you as He chooses.
